Sprachreise in die südenglische Stadt Eastbourne
Impression of our language week in Eastbourne, UK
The language school
We gathered many different impressions of the language school during our stay. The main focus of the teachers was to expand our vocabulary in a mainly oral way. Everybody was really kind and frank. Personally speaking, we didn’t learn that much, compared to our lessons in Austria. In our opinion it wasn’t worth that much money, but it was definitely a very nice experience.

During our trip to Eastbourne, we went to language school for four days. Unfortunately, we didn’t learn anything new, and we spent most of the time playing games. Our teachers were Collin and Potty who were both elderlies, but great fun. Especially Collin used a lot of body language to communicate and helped us to express ourselves with more than words.

Our host families
During our stay we lived with host families. Some had better luck than others, but we cannot complain. All in all, it was fine. Of course, it was weird in the beginning because you slept in a strangers’ house. The daily routine was strictly regulated but quickly became natural to us. Our host families provided us with breakfast, dinner and a small packed lunch. You could learn a lot from them, for example: how life differs from life in Austria concerning the school system, daily life and driving on the left. Of course, we improved our English skills because we plainly talked to them.

We had a very lovely experience with our host grandma, she cooked very well and gave us the option to decide what we wanted for our lunch packages. We had a great bedroom and had a bathroom to ourselves. Everything was clean and continuously cleaned during our stay.

Afternoon and weekend activities
From cliff walks to city trips and fish’n chips, everything was included. In a short period of time, we saw many new towns and cities and learned to love England. There was never a day where we didn’t fall asleep exhausted but filled with new experiences. London was truly exceptional and the musical Wicked didn’t disappoint.

In the afternoons we spent our time in Eastbourne and in different cities. On our first day we were invited on a guided tour through Eastbourne and met our host families. We also did a treasure hunt trough Eastbourne. We visited the medieval town Rye and went on a true crime tour in Hastings. On Friday we went on a cliff walk to see the Seven Sisters, the characteristic sight at England’s southcoast, and walked back to Eastbourne. The day we looked forward the most was Saturday because we went to London. Our expectations were high and were fulfilled. We also went to the Apollo Victoria Theatre and watched the musical “Wicked”, which we all enjoyed a lot. We spent our last day in Brighton to visit the Royal Pavilion and have fish and chips together at the harbour.
